Fraud & Impersonation Warning

How to recognise attempts to misuse the EBRICS name, codes or seals, the only genuine Registry channels, and what to do if you suspect fraud.

The only genuine EBRICS Registry is https://ebrics.eurabeltfuels.com. Type this address yourself. Never verify a code through a link, website, telephone number or messaging account supplied by the party whose code you are checking.

1. How genuine verification works

  1. The counterparty holding the code asks the Registry to send you an Authorization to Verify.
  2. You receive an email from the Registry, not from the counterparty. It contains the code, an ATV reference, a purpose, an expiry and a verification limit.
  3. You enter the three code seals and the ATV reference on the decoder at the address above.
  4. The verified profile appears only if everything matches. The holder is notified.

2. Warning signs

  • You are asked to "verify" on a website other than ebrics.eurabeltfuels.com, or through WhatsApp, Telegram or another messaging service.
  • The ATV reference comes from the counterparty, a broker or an intermediary instead of from the Registry.
  • You are told the Registry charges the counterparty a fee to verify, or you are asked for payment to "release", "activate" or "clear" a code, seal or allocation.
  • A document shows a tier, Reserve List position or "Registry endorsement" but no code that you can verify.
  • A sealed document fails the seal check, or you are sent a re-saved copy instead of the original sealed file.
  • Pressure to proceed before verification is complete.

3. What the Registry will never do

  • Ask for your password, a confirmation link or an authenticator code by email, telephone or message
  • Ask for payment to verify a code
  • Act as a party, broker or agent in your transaction
  • Guarantee a cargo, an allocation, performance or payment

4. If you suspect fraud

  1. Stop and do not proceed with the transaction or make any payment.
  2. Keep the documents, emails and any codes or references you were given.
  3. Report it to compliance@eurabeltfuels.com, or anonymously under the Speak-Up Policy.
  4. Report it to your national fraud or cybercrime authority. In the UK, this is Report Fraud, which replaced Action Fraud.

The Registry investigates every report of impersonation, suspends codes where necessary, and cooperates with law enforcement.

EBRICS is a verification and compliance registry. It is not a party to any transaction between its users and does not act as broker, agent or guarantor. Principals make their own decisions through their own teams. A tier or Reserve List designation is not a credit rating or an endorsement. A document without a valid EBRICS code is not recognised by the Registry.
